A couple of things about the newsletter… It’s a “bag of chips” edition (as my old boss used to say of some design work we did), and if there’s a theme, it’s “early stages”, which is my caveat for saying some of this writing is a little raw.
“Do you need to be heard, helped, or hugged?”
I’m standing at the Octagon in Dunedin. It’s sunny. About a thousand people are here: old and young, every colour and creed, all supporting the Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti.
A tall guy walks through the crowd up to the stage. His legs are long; his trousers a little short. He’s there because he has to be. It’s a space and place he’s resisted, yet here he is. He ends his talk with a poem. It’s good. It resonates.

Songs and poems move people. You can recount all the facts, and you can make logical arguments, but it’s the arts that make those facts come alive. It’s the arts that open people to feeling, to possibility, to action. It’s the arts that can unite us in what it is to be the messy, complicated, beautiful humans we are.
Metalabel is a place to release and collect. I’ve collected one or two things, talked with one of the site’s creators, and am considering using the site for future zines and projects.
I recently helped my partner regain control of her email. In 20 minutes, we reduced her inbox of several thousand emails to zero. Better still, she’s managed to keep her inbox manageable using a simple system and setup.
I’m looking for three people who would like to become email ninjas. I’m keen to refine the process I used and offer it to other people overwhelmed by their emails.
The outcome is simple: We’ll empty your Inbox, and you’ll learn a simple system for keeping it that way.
So…
If your Inbox is full of 100s of emails you’ve been avoiding, and you’d like to do something about it by becoming an Email Ninja - drop me a line saying Yes!
